Artist and maker Hannah Clare, draws inspiration from nature, poetry and folklore. Collecting and interacting with the natural landscape is an important part of her work.
'I have always found myself both calmed and re-energised by spending time in nature and I find much of my inspiration exploring gardens, woodlands, fields and coasts; gathering flora and fauna, and observing the ever-changing outdoors.
I love to create a kind of visual poetry of organic forms, patterns and textures using drawing, mark-making and printmaking with a spontaneous quality and serendipity; yet create carefully considered arrangements with collage to play with shape, colour and composition.'
Hannah graduated with a BA Hons in Illustration at the University of Brighton, and now lives and works in Brighton where she also finds inspiration between the downs, the city and the sea.
